Actually this is the logo of starbucks.

Starbucks is an international coffee and coffeehouse chain based in Seattle USA.Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company in the world, with 16,120 stores in 44 countries. Starbucks sells drip brewed coffee,espresso-based hot drinks, other hot and cold drinks, snacks, and items such as mugs and coffee beans. Through the Starbucks Entertainment division and Hear Music brand , the company also markets books, music, and film. Many of the company's products are seasonal or specific to the locality of the store. Starbucks-brand ice cream and coffee are also sold at grocery stores.

From Starbucks' founding in Seattle as a local coffee bean roaster and retailer, the company has expanded rapidly. In the 1990s, Starbucks was opening a new store every workday, a pace that continued into the 2000s. Domestic growth has since slowed, although the company continues to expand in foreign markets and will open a net of 900 new stores outside of the U.S. in 2009.The first location outside of the United States and Canada was established in 1990s, and they now constitute almost one third of Starbucks' stores.^[

As of early 2009, Starbucks has more than 16,000 stores in 48 countries worldwide, 11,006 of which are located in the United States, followed by Canada with 976 and Japan with 845 locations. On July 1, 2008, the company announced it was closing 600 under-performing company-owned stores and cutting U.S. expansion plans amid growing economic uncertainty. On July 29, 2008, Starbucks also cut almost 1,000 non-retail jobs as part of its bid to re-energize the brand and boost its profit. Of the new cuts, 550 of the positions are layoffs and the rest are unfilled jobs. These closings and layoffs have effectively ended the company’s period of growth and expansion that began in the mid-1990s.

Star Bucks

Redesigning the logo:

- The first thing i did, I changed the color of the logo. i made it brown. From my point is the color that inspires (says) coffee.

- So I kept the form (circle)

- I removed the siren in middle of the logo and replace it with a big star According to the name (starbucks).

- I put inside of the star the Map of Malaysia (as the Malaysian thing) to show that is not anywhere else. It’s in Malaysia.

- I put a cup of coffee in middle of the map. Just to show that it’s a coffee and it’s in Malaysia.

Drawing with Adobe Illustrator

I used adobe illustrator CS3 as it was required.

- I opened a new page in adobe illustrator (width 25cm Height 20 cm)

- I pasted the sketch of my redesigned logo that i have scanned before then I reduced the opacity of the image from 100% to 40% after that I locked the layer(layer 1).

- I opened a new layer (layer 2).i started by drawing the two circles following those on my stretch. I used ellipse tool (L) and in the same i drawn the star using star tool also following the one on my sketch. It was not fitting very well with my sketch so i did some transformations. you can see it on the image below.

- I opened a new layer (layer 3) i drawn the Malaysian map copying the one i downloaded on internet on this link: http://visa-guru.com/youraccount/admin/uploads/CountryMap/1202009121016AMmalaysia-map.gif because the one i sketched was not fitting. Drawing the map i used brush tool (B) and in the same layer i drawn the cup of coffee also using the brush tool (B).

- I opened layer (layer 4). I wrote between the 2 circle on the top ‘’Starbucks’’ and down between the 2 circles i wrote ‘’coffee’’ like it’s wrote on the original logo but i changed the font i used another one called ‘’Myriad Pro’’ and for make the font fit between the 2 circles of my logo i used a tool called ‘’make envelope’’.

- And then i painted the circles in brown and the star also i painted it in brown. I left the Malaysian map in white just to make the contrast. So that it will attract people.
